We work to break stigma, create safe spaces for healing and connection, and empower families with the tools and support needed to thrive. Southwest Cardinals (SWC) – Mission Statement

The Southwest Cardinals (SWC) youth organization is committed to providing a family-oriented environment where athletes can grow on and off the field. Through football, basketball, baseball, track, and cheerleading, we equip young people with essential life skills—including discipline, integrity, teamwork, and resilience—while helping them reach their highest potential.

At SWC, our mission goes beyond sports. We aim to positively impact every child who enters our program—supporting them in the classroom, at home, and in their community. We believe every young person carries greatness within them, and with the right guidance, structure, and encouragement, they can rise above obstacles and succeed in every area of life

Introducing Jumbo Cares

Jumbo Cares is the outreach and support arm of the Jumbo Foundation, dedicated to helping young athletes and at-risk pre-teens and teens who need guidance beyond what they receive in athletics or school. Many of our youth face real pressures—academic difficulties, family challenges, mental health concerns, and negative influences in their communities. Jumbo Cares bridges that gap by providing consistent support, mentorship, and resources that many children may not receive at home or in the classroom.

Our mission is to guide and empower young athletes—especially those at risk or facing challenges in school, sports, and the streets—by providing a safe space for growth, guidance, and support. We help pre-teens and teens navigate life’s pressures and find balance between their athletic goals and personal development.

Through mentorship, mental health support, financial literacy, and life skills programming, Jumbo Cares equips youth with the tools they need to make positive choices, overcome adversity, and build a strong foundation for a successful future—on and off the field.

Our Approach to Mental & Emotional Wellness

At both SWC and Jumbo Cares, we believe youth thrive when they feel emotionally safe and supported. By normalizing open conversations around mental health, teaching healthy ways to express emotions, and breaking harmful stigmas like “boys don’t cry,” we create a new culture of strength—one rooted in vulnerability, communication, and support. Our programs empower youth to understand their feelings, ask for help when needed, and grow into emotionally intelligent, confident young adults.
